Review: Lavantine Restaurant & Skybar

Lavantine Sky Bar is nestled in the heart of Downtown Vancouver and serves up flavours inspired from the Levant region in the Middle East. The stunning rooftop is inspired by a garden, with a small pool in the centre of the outdoor area, however it was closed off when I visited last week due to the winter weather. The restaurant is offering a Dine Out Vancouver menu until mid February and I recommend seizing the opportunity to give this spot a try.

My group of 7 girlfriends all enjoyed a family-style dinner here for our besties birthday and we were met with great service, atmosphere and food. The drink menu features an impressive wine and spirits list, as well as a plethora of cocktails inspired by different countries. We tried Spain, France and Brazil… but honestly, the cocktails felt a bit complex to be enjoyed with the meal, so we recommend ordering a bottle of wine, or a simpler cocktail instead.

For our mains, the Mezze selection was beautiful and a generous portion, but we all felt the Hummus was the standout, so I recommend ordering 1-2 of them instead (depending on the size of group). The Kibbeh was a mozzarella, beef and jalapeƱo coconut dish we all loved and something none of us had tried before. The octopus and grilled ahi tuna were both excellent, fresh and cooked to perfection, leaving us all wanting more. Then we enjoyed a burrata, and while it was yummy, I’d opt for another seafood or meat dish instead, as they were the true standouts of the meal.

Overall, this restaurant is a must-try for lovers of beautiful rooftops and middle eastern cuisine. The seafood and meat dishes were the star of the show, and I advise you come hungry and with a group of carnivores. It is perfect for birthdays, group dinners and tapas-style dining. So, I give it a 8/10.
